Stress
A definition, friends, of stress:
Your own reaction to a mess.
Stress from pains to pleasures range,
The common element is change.
Adapt or die, and that’s a fact,
And so our bodies must react:
The heart speeds up, the gut slows down,
Facial muscles snarl or frown.
The point is, stress is not unique,
It doesn’t mean you’re dumb or weak.
Common both to man and beast,
It proves you’re still alive, at least!
Yes, I agree with the poem’s message. Stress is indeed our natural response to change — whether good (like a new opportunity) or bad (like a problem). The poem wisely points out that stress isn’t a sign of weakness but proof we’re adapting to life’s challenges. For example, the physical reactions (racing heart, tension) are our body’s way of preparing us to act. The last line is my favorite: stress reminds us we’re fully alive and engaged with the world.
