Study the two photographs. In 1.5 minutes, be ready to compare and contrast the photographs:
- give a brief description of the photos (action, location)
- say what the pictures have in common
- say in what way the pictures are different
- say which of the jobs presented in the pictures you’d choose to work part-time in
- explain why
You will speak for not more than 2 minutes (12–15 sentences). You have to talk continuously.
I’d like to compare and contrast these two pictures.
The first picture depicts a young boy who is standing near the door and carrying a box. The other picture shows a boy baking bread in a kitchen, possibly in a restaurant.
These pictures have some similarities. The most obvious similarity is that both pictures are connected by the same topic. Both pictures demonstrate different kinds of part-time jobs for the youth. Another similarity is that in both pictures the young boys have almost completed their task: in the first one he has almost delivered the parcel, and in the second one the bread is almost ready.
However, these pictures have a difference. In the first picture, the boy is a courier, which implies constant movement on the street, while in the second picture, the boy is working as a cook, being only indoors.
Personally, I would prefer to work part-time as a cook because I’m fond of cooking dishes. Besides, working in a restaurant offers a more controlled and predictable work environment.
