Используем told, потому что есть конкретный адресат — Julie. В косвенной речи повелительное наклонение меняется на инфинитив с частицей not.

Paul asked Susan what the article said.
Здесь вопрос, поэтому используем asked. В косвенной речи меняем порядок слов на утвердительный, также меняется время (Present Simple => Past Simple).
- “Text me later this evening!” he told John.
He told John to text him later that evening.
Повелительное наклонение с конкретным адресатом — используем told, временной период this evening => that evening.
- “Why don’t we study Latin?” Sally asked the teacher.
Sally asked the teacher why they didn’t study Latin.
Вопрос — используем asked. В косвенной речи меняется порядок слов и время (Present Simple => Past Simple).
- “Do you believe in aliens?” he asked me.
He asked me if I believed in aliens.
Вопрос с ответом «да/нет» — используем asked. В косвенной речи добавляем союз if и меняем время (Present Simple => Past Simple).
