Dear Diary,

Today was a very upsetting day. I received a wonderful model engine for my tenth birthday, and I was so excited to play with it. But after just three days, it suddenly exploded with a loud bang. Poor James, our dog, was so scared he ran away and didn’t come back all day. The little engine was broken to bits, and I felt really sad about it. I tried not to cry and said my eyes were red because of a cold. Tomorrow, I have to stay in bed and rest.
