People can suffer from various forms of discrimination based on different characteristics or aspects of their identity. 

 

• Racial/ethnic discrimination (racism) – based on skin color, race, or ethnicity (e.g., Black, Asian, Indigenous people facing prejudice)  

 

• Gender discrimination (sexism) – unfair treatment due to gender (e.g., women paid less than men for the same job)

 

• Age discrimination (ageism) – bias against people because of their age (e.g., older adults denied jobs or younger people not taken seriously)

 

• Religious discrimination – prejudice against someone’s faith (e.g., Muslims, Jews, or other religious groups facing stereotypes or exclusion)

 

• Disability discrimination (ableism) – mistreatment of people with physical or mental disabilities (e.g., inaccessible buildings or workplace bias)

 

• Class discrimination – bias based on social or economic status (e.g., poor people receiving worse services)

 

• Nationality discrimination (xenophobia) – hostility toward immigrants or foreigners (e.g., assuming someone is «less capable» due to their origin)

 

• Appearance discrimination – judging people for their looks, weight, or style (e.g., overweight individuals facing bullying)

 

• Language discrimination – mistreatment due to accent or native language (e.g., non-native speakers mocked at work)
